It was WET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The truck got stuck with the trailer when we tried to get into the Midlands camping area. Buried in mud and trapping the truck in the process. It was decided that since our tent and dining fly would fit in between the two camps already in place at Midlands we would camp up hill and in the back of the area. The tent was set up between rain session on the Friday before War week. By around three all tents where up and the kitchen was in place before the next shower started....it was a short one. Over the time the our pavilion was in place the center pole I think sank a good three inches in the soft muck under our ground tarp. The bed required a couple of patio blocks to level the poor thing our for us to sleep comfortably.

By Saturday evening much of the Midlands had come in and set up camp with help from those of us already there and those arriving at the same time. From then on it was a camp full of folks praying to the higher powers for a dry spell during War week. The Midlands Municipal works department got the showers set up on Sunday making things a bit nicer around camp. Seriously thinking about re-working the shower system for the camp next year...there has to be a better way.

I did my Thrown Weapons range time and actually taught or helped teach two of the classes scheduled. My Adult beginning throwing class was a full one with a dozen people attending. The Children's ax throwing class had over a dozen attending it. After the class the kids took over one of the practice ranges to sharpen their budding skills with axes. I worked with a good many people on the teaching range during the week and helped with MIT training too. I even ended up getting the whole of the Thrown Weapons area handed off to me a few times when the General or her Second had to run off for errands of business. This is something new for me...wonder if it is since I am a Greenwood cadet or they just trust my judgment on the ranges. I was very pleases to have THL Dominique bring a lady over to me for a refresher course in throwing axes. That lady just happened to be Nan Astrid and I enjoyed chatting with her about equestrian, thrown weapons and other things. I also informed her that if it was Moonwolf that sharpened her axes His Grace does a heck of a job on blades.

Worst thing happening in camp this year....Plumettycat breaking two toes in the darkness of the kitchen area on a cooler wheel.
Best thing happening in camp this year....Friday rolling around and packing out to come home to the kitties and our happy house.
Trailer is around 95% pack which is good due to the weather around here going to heck for the next few days.

Two more coolers to pack for the trip out with things if forgot to put in the kitchen boxes
or bedding box.

Scary part is.....I still have room in the trailer. I is good at Trailertris.

It is kind of strange.....

At this point in time almost everyone I know and called friend in my early days in the SCA is divorced, divorced again, separated or in a crappy relationship. This would be the back in the 1980's crowd.

Some of these folks have had up to three or four divorces at this point jumping from relationship to relationship. Other folks have seen the errors of previous attempts and thought long an hard about being single and it's advantages.

Guess I like being the oddity with the twenty year long relationship and fourteen year long marriage.

Anniversary time.....

Anniversary number 14------the traditional Ivory one.

Ivory roses in a vase......
A musical card with "Your my Best Friend" by Queen.....
A really cute card with tiger cubs and a mushy sentiment.....
300 rounds of 9 mm ammo and the promise to load magazines until the ammo runs out....
Brunch at a chain restaurant we hit on the road right after the wedding reception...Steak and Shake. Pretty sure it was a tradition after the tenth time.

Roses = happy Plumettycat flushing and bouncing.
Muscial card = Big smiles from the Plumettycat
Cute card = Hystraical laughter for many minutes realizing we bought the same card.
9MM ammo = Caused big grin and the "He bought me Guns and Roses" comment from Plumettycat.

Sharing this with our friends on LJ = Priceless
Amazing how the mind works when one should be in bed asleep. A three hour nap and I am wide awake and down in the basement with Scarlett "Basement Cat".

How many events can one person go to and not burn out on events and merchanting?

It helps if there are ride along minions or a husband but on those trips with with only adopted at site minions I worry about the Plumettycat. The amount of stock to be moved in and out of truck and the tables and at times the pop-up sun screen....lots of stuff. Then there is the game of Truck-tris getting everything back in the vehicle for the trip to usually the hotel for the night.

Carriag Ban this weekend after being invited by Their Excellencies of Carriag Ban at Illiton's event. Spicewells kind of impressed them a bit for Plumettycat's first event. The organization and presentation of the products....and the knowledge of her products.

Then Butts and Bales in Dragon's Vale...kind of need to go when I am the Midlands Thrown Weapons Marshal. Well that and it's in the new "Boss" for Thrown Weapons home shire. One small problem, no website or advert for the event.

Next up is Crystal Chamfron for me here at home with Plumettycat heading off to Border Raids to merchant down in Meridies. She won't have the truck that weekend but we know that a rented mini van works from when the truck was in the shop.

The finally before Pennsic looks like Calontir Crown down in Arkansas, going with my Plumettycat even if I have to trade "On Call" time with someone in the office at work.

Who knows what the schedule after Pennsic will look like for Plumettycat and Spicewells.....we shall see.

Hrumph......frustrated with a situation.

After mulling things over for most of a week I have come to an opinion.... I am not please with our Baron and Baroness, they did not represent our Barony well at Illiton. When one goes as a guest as a Landed representative of a Barony to sign a treaty gifts should be brought for the host and hostess and other Landed heads signing the treaty.

I was so embarrassed by the wonderful things presented by Carage Ban to Carol and Max and nothing given back but a signature on a treaty scroll. Is our Barony so poor that baskets could not have been put together for Illiton and Carage Ban? The Company of the Occupied Otter has given generously to our local representatives of the crown for the last six or seven years. Last Baronial court baskets where presented to both Carol and Max with many items that could well have been re-gifted in situations like the one previously mentioned.

Guess I am embarrassed, confused, disappointed and getting frustrated.

Someone after this long with the Shattered Crystal shiny hats on should have a CLUE that they are representing a group of people not just themselves.

I am glad that the Company of the Occupied Otter showed up in force, well five of use got to the event. Very targeted gifts went to our much loved friends Baron and Baroness of Illiton, I hope they enjoy them.

I hate teenage drives....part 2

Can we say if Plumettycat would not have been in the truck things would not have ended well. Looking at the damage to my truck tells me that Plumettycat's Jeep would have probably rolled over from the impact of the Scion. Something to be said for a nice big Nissian Frountier.

So far the cost is looking like $8,000 without pulling anything off and seeing damage under the skin.

Oh well.....

Strange day

Expected to be helping the Feast Steward with the Crystal Ball feast.....not so much today. I stumbled my way through helping her turn her ideas for homework for culinary school into a viable menu for a restaurant. This was entertaining but not what I had planned on doing for the day.

The idea behind the homework was for her to develop a restaurant from the ground up. Location had to be found....it had to be a real location. A theme for the restaurant, her's being a Victorian Tea Room. Design of the building front, dining area and kitchen. The menu involved Print Shop and me wishing Plumettycat was here to help her instead.

The White Rabbit Tea Room has a menu and a floor plan........

General ideas for Crystal Ball feast also got looked at....and Tailkinker bought a book from Amazon on Running a Russian household during the time of Grand Prince Ivan Grozny. I hope it helps us.

I really hate teen drivers

This morning I sent Plummetycat and two of the household daughters off to Chicago for the Stonedog event. Plummetycat is to be merchanting and having a girls weekend, this was screwed over by a kid behind the wheel in Chicago.

The Girls are all okay and my truck still runs and rolls.....but it is torn up due to a teenager girl, a 2008 Scion, a Cellphone and a Chicago highway. Plummetycat swerved over on to the shoulder to avoid the Scion with a driver on the phone cutting across two lanes of traffic to hit an exit she had nearly passed. Initial impact was nearly in Kat's diver door and moved forward from there and racked back down the truck to the back bumper.

I really hope that none of the Spicewell's stock was damage by that little twit. I also hope that Plummetycat has a good day with the girls at Stonedog.

This just goes to prove that I cannot own a new vehicle without some jackass hitting it and doing thousands of dollars of damage to it. I am so angry with the little Chicago teenager that thinks she is the only thing on the road. Her parents show up in a Caddie Esclade and she is crying and yowling.....the State Trooper had many many pretty pieces of paper for their little girl.

Improper lane usage
Failure to yield
Use of a cellphone while driving....I thnk that just became illegal in Illinois

I am sure these are just a few of the tickets she earned.

Just want the girls to have a good weekend and get home safe.
